Traxxas TORC’s PRO Light class’ heading down to the wire @ Lancaster!

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 13, 2012) – The Traxxas TORC Series, presented by AMSOIL’s PRO Light division is coming down to the final two rounds on Saturday, Oct. 29th, at Lancaster’s (Calif.) Antelope Valley Fairgrounds. Defending TORC Series PRO Light champion Andrew Caddell (Ram/Mopar/Traxxas/BFG) trails current point leader Brad Lovell (AMSOIL/Nissan/Torchmate/BFG) by a mere five points, 253-248, with one BIG day of racing left for the TORC PRO Lights class.
Lovell and Caddell have staged an epic battle this season across TORC’s virtual coast-to-coast tour of the United States. Caddell swept the opener (1st/1st) at famed NASCAR venue Charlotte Motor Speedway and took a commanding lead when the nation’s premier short course series headed back to the Midwest. Caddell would win again at TORC’s third round at America’s motocross track – RedBud MX in Buchanan, Mich. – after which Lovell fired back with his first win of the season at round four at RedBud.
In June the two would swap wins at the series’ first of two stops at Wisconsin legendary Crandon International Off-Road Raceway’s and the annual June Brush Run. Caddell would then get the upper hand at another NASCAR venue – Chicagoland Speedway – before the series headed north to Upper Michigan’s Bark River Raceway. Caddell would open with a rough start at Bark River while Lovell combined a win with a 2nd place podium finish to tighten the points chase right back up.
Moving back to Crandon for the recent Labor Day Weekend World Championships, Lovell and Caddell raced strategically for points while California’s Casey Currie (Monster Energy/Nissan/General Tire) walked away with the double wins. The two (Lovell & Caddell) even got together at one point, making the 2012 TORC PRO Light points chase even that much more personal!
“It’s a big deal for our team. Not only are we taking on Caddell as a great driver, we are challenging the most powerful and prepared team in TORC,” said Lovell. “We are clearly the underdog and have nothing to lose. AMSOIL, BFGoodrich, Nissan, Torchmate all took a huge gamble with me getting into TORC. I’m not about to let them down.”
Added Caddell: “I am really looking forward to Lancaster and continuing the points chase with Brad Lovell. He got into us last race which gave him a small point lead, but we are coming strong for this race and will be going for the win harder than ever!”
For Lancaster both Lovell and Caddell agree that there’s no holding back. The guy who steps up and goes out there to win it – while having a team that can handle the immense pressure attached with the two races in one day – will prevail in the end.
“A year’s worth of hard work is coming down to the final weekend of racing,” said Lovell. “I have a few points on Caddell, but we both know it’s coming down to whoever does better in Antelope Valley. I feel focused and have no doubt the truck will be well-tuned. Sure, there is a lot of pressure. But we have been consistently earning more points than Caddell for the last few races. I have the truck and team to win this and I am confident we can beat him.”
Caddell painted a clear picture of what it will take to win as well, stating simply: “This is what you live for going down to the last race for the championship. I know we have the best team and will come out swinging.”
The only guys with any sort of legitimate shot at Caddell and Lovell are CJ Greaves (Monster Energy/Toyota/Maxxis) and Luke Johnson (Traxxas/AMSOIL/BFG), though both are pretty far back in 3rd and 4th, respectively with 201 and 200 points.
Up next … Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, Lancaster, Calif., Sept. 29-30.
