STRONGHOLD MOTORSPORTS TAKES ON THE EXTREME AT RENO

Riverside, California (August 22, 2012) –  The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series continues to break new ground and Stronghold Motorsports will be there in full force as the team heads to Reno, Nevada for the inaugural Silver State Showdown. The mile long, natural terrain track, built into a local mountainside features high speed straight-aways, enormous drops offs, and huge elevation changes that will push seven time supercross champion, Jeremy McGrath, action sports icon, Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg and the entire Stronghold team to the edge in their relentless pursuit of the podium.

While Stronghold Motorsports’ Jeremy McGrath and Cameron Steele will attempt to build on the momentum from their pair of tenth round podiums, 19 year old short course off road racing prodigy, RJ Anderson will be heading to Reno determined to increase his lead in the ProLite division with just 5 rounds of racing remaining in the title chase.

McGrath’s spectacular performance in Round 10 at Glen Helen raceway was a strong reminder to his adversaries that while he has faced challenges throughout the season, he remains a leading candidate for the podium each time the familiar 900 horse powered Monster Energy/WalkerEvansRacing.com  #2 Pro2 hits the track. Having battled throughout the season to stay within striking distance of the class leaders, McGrath is now poised to make a run at the class title with a strong showing this weekend.

At Glen Helen, Steele made his third trip to the podium this season with his third place, tenth round finish. His recent successes in the open wheel ProBuggy class are putting the field on notice that the 2010 champion will be challenging for the front of the pack on the high flying Reno course.

For the first time this season, Rounds 9&10 saw RJ Anderson come away from a weekend event without a visit to the podium. While facing a combination of mechanical challenges and catastrophic contact with a competitor, he was able to leave Glen Helen with a hard fought fourth place finish while maintaining his grip on the ProLite division. Having earned four wins along with his six podiums this season, Anderson will lead an all out assault on the extreme track at Reno’s Wild West Motorsports Park in pursuit of the podium while extending his lead in the ProLite division.

As a multi-time X Games medalist in freestyle motocross, Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg is expected to be right at home racing at this new extreme facility in Reno. Firmly entrenched in a top ten position in short course off road racing’s premier Pro2 division, Stenberg will be battling to make his mark on the class and contend for a spot on the box. Alongside Stenberg in the distinctive Supercross.com/Loctite team livery will be teammates Matt Cook, Larry Job and Garrett Poelman. Cook, an exciting competitor behind the wheel of his 425 horse powered ProLite truck, has experienced racing at the front of the pack throughout the season but thus far not reaped the rewards of his efforts. In Reno, Cook’s no holds barred driving style will be to his advantage as he attacks the series’ most intense course expecting to realize dividends from the hard work he’s put in this season. Looking to earn their first podiums of the season are Larry Job and Garrett Poelman. While twice a runner in prior seasons ProBuggy championship quests, Job’s quiet consistency this year has kept him within sight of the class lead while Poleman enters the weekend hoping to improve on his fifth place position in the SuperLite spec class standings.

Representing Stronghold Motorsports in the Jr.1 Kart division will be eight year old Madix Bailey. Having made his series debut at Glen Helen, Madix will be facing new challenges as he along with the entire Stronghold team take on Wild West Motorsports Park for the first time.

If you will be in Reno for the Silver State Showdown, please join Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg and Stronghold Motorsports for the Official Event Pre-Party at 8pm, this Thursday, August 23rd at the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada.

Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg will also be appearing with seven time supercross champion, Jeremy McGrath as the team celebrates the inaugural Silver State Showdown at the Official Event After Party at the Grand Sierra Resort Casino in Reno, Nevada on Saturday, August 25th at 8PM.
